Clients and friends are always asking me “How can I SELL more?” The word sales can really have an adverse reaction in business owners and even sales people themselves. There are many negative connotations associated with sales. People have visions of the shady used car salesman, or the relentless telemarketer that calls you during dinner. Sales today has changed. It really revolves around you showing your clients that you have the best solution for their problem. It’s that simple. When you really look at it that way, helping people solve their problems, it’s a lot less daunting. When you hire me, as my client you will learn these 4 Secrets to Rock Star Sales Mastery and much more.
1st Secret: Take control of your mindset
THE first secret to Rock Star Sales Mastery is to to take control of your mindset. If you’re thinking that sales is this tough, awful and this horrible ting you have to do then it will be. You need to embrace sales and know that you are offering a product or service for the good of your customers. For example, if you sell weight loss products, you need to believe that you are helping people improve their health and really their lives. You have to believe in your product 100%. And when you believe in your product, that comes through and they’ll buy from you. If you are a wedding planner and a couple comes to you to plan their wedding, take the time to listen to their vision and do your best to make it a reality. This is a huge day in their lives that you can contribute to and help make amazing. Know this in your being so you can share that feelingwith your client.
Stop and think about this, how does YOUR product or service really provide a solution to help someone in his or her lives? Every product or service helps the client in some way, shape or form, if it’s a legitimate product or service. Take a moment to think about that. Then write it down and keep it on your desk or wherever you can see it when you are making sales calls or seeing prospective clients. Just take a look at it, and remind yourself why you’re doing this business, to help people. That is going to have a profound effect on your clients along with the other things we are going to take a look at here in a moment.
Be aware that your mind can definitely run wild before a sales call. So to get in the right mindset, listening to music before the call or the meeting can really help. It can get you amped up or relaxed, or it can help you focus. Listening to sales training CD’s or MP3’s in your car beforehand is a great idea to influence your mindset in a positive way. And maybe you’ll learn something in that training that you can use in your sales presentation.
Also, make sure you have eaten and are hydrated before your sales call. This will help your brain to concentrate on the moment – you won’t be thinking about how hungry you are or distracted. Important: Eating and hydrating before a sales call does NOT include giant burritos, Big Macs and extra large colas. It will definitely have an effect on your sales call but not the one you’re looking for. Whole, natural foods work best. Try a handful of almonds, a piece of fruit and some water. A light sandwich on whole grain or small salad works too. Make sure you are not full and omitting foul odors of onions and garlic. You get point. Be sure to check your teeth for spinach stragglers before you get out of your car. You’ll be glad you did.
